A Weekend to Remember: Celebrating the Inaugural Governor Mifflin Baseball Hall of Fame!

Arpil 27, 2025

This past weekend will be etched in Governor Mifflin Baseball history forever! From the roar of the crowd to the heartfelt speeches, the inaugural Hall of Fame Induction was an absolute triumph, showcasing the passion, tradition, and unwavering community support that makes Mifflin Baseball so special.

The festivities kicked off on Friday night with a powerful reminder of our storied past. We were honored to welcome nine members of the legendary 1975 County Championship team, celebrating the 50th anniversary of their incredible achievement. Seeing these heroes back on the field, sharing stories and memories, was a truly inspiring way to start the weekend.

The heart of the evening, of course, was the induction of our first-ever Hall of Fame class! Dan Batz, Kurt Henry, Steve Murray, and Ed Williamson – four names synonymous with Mifflin Baseball excellence – were formally recognized for their outstanding contributions. Each inductee represents the very best of what it means to wear the Mustang uniform, and their accomplishments will forever be celebrated. A highlight of the ceremony was undoubtedly Ed Williamson’s ceremonial first pitch, a perfect tribute to his enduring legacy!

The excitement didn’t end there! The ensuing game against Hempfield, a clash of the district’s top two teams, was a nail-biting affair with playoff intensity. After seven scoreless innings, the tension finally broke in the 9th, with Hempfield scoring three runs. Our Mustangs showed incredible grit, battling back with two runs of their own, but ultimately falling just short in a 3-2 loss. Despite the defeat, the record-breaking attendance spoke volumes about the unwavering passion of our community.

The celebrations continued on Saturday afternoon with a special reception at Paolo’s Restaurant. In a more intimate setting, our four Hall of Famers shared deeply personal and inspiring remarks about what the induction meant to them. It was particularly meaningful to have the current Governor Mifflin baseball team in attendance, soaking in the wisdom and experiences of these legends. What an incredible opportunity for our young players to connect with the rich history and tradition they now represent!

In closing, the 2025 Hall of Fame Induction Weekend was a resounding success – a fitting tribute to the remarkable individuals who have shaped the legacy of Governor Mifflin Baseball. From the 1975 County Champions to our inaugural Hall of Fame class, this weekend was a powerful reminder of the tradition, community, and excellence that define our program.

Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, and showed their support. This weekend wouldn’t have been possible without you! Here’s to many more years of celebrating the rich history and bright future of Governor Mifflin Baseball!
